Given the eco-friendly mission of School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University, it is not surprising that Kroon Hall is the greenest building on campus and a symbol of the school’s ideals and values built to form. The building leverages numerous sustainable and climate neutral initiatives from the use of recycled, sustainably harvested to materials to the installation of geothermal and solar energy systems.
M.J. Daly worked with world-class construction and architectural teams to install the building’s fire protection systems to achieve maximum efficiency while preserving important architectural features such as the trusses which were made from Yale’s sustainalby-managed forests and designed to provide a visual reminder of the school’s high ambitions. The scope of work included installation of approximately 720 sprinkler heads, fire standpipes, under floor piping systems, and individual control valve assemblies.
