UCONN’s new three-story 191,000 sqft facility includes 30,000 sqft of fitness space, a four-court gymnasium, two multipurpose activity courts, indoor running track, aquatics center, recreational pool, climbing center, racquetball courts, outdoor recreation center, functional training, and multipurpose rooms. MJ Daly’s scope for the project was a mechanical / HVAC construction that included multiple mechanical rooms with six AHU’s all varying in size. The smallest unit will support the multipurpose courts, and the largest has two-levels with a catwalk and ductwork up to the ceiling.

Hot water, chilled water, and glycol piping systems were run throughout the entire building and wrapped with color-coded insulation for easy identification. Stainless steel ductwork was installed with a special coating to prevent rust for all pool area piping.
