National Coast Guard Museum

MJ Daly was recently awarded the Fire Protection scope for the new National Coast Guard Museum in New London, Connecticut. They will work with general contractor A/Z Corporation on the 83,000-sf building, which includes 38,168-sf of exhibit space spread over five floors.

The fire protection work will include a wet sprinkler system in the building and a dry sprinkler system to protect the loading dock, storage rooms, exterior canopy, and atrium landing. This will utilize our VDC-BIM workflow to fabricate sprinkler piping in our in-house facility, providing clash-free installations and streamlined productivity.

Currently, the project is in the coordination phase and is expected to begin construction in October 2024, with a target completion date of Spring 2026. The U.S. Coast Guard is the only military branch without an official museum, so this is a welcome endeavor.

The National Coast Guard Museum Construction project is funded by a Federal Grant administered by the U.S. Coast Guard and private donations.
